This is a crucial time of year for the BirdieSisters. We must decide on summer tournament scheduling. With over 40 tournament to choose from, timing and finances will play a major factor. The BirdieSisters play in 4 leagues and will try to participate in all international tournaments for which they are eligible. There are several excellent, independent tournaments in our area that we also try to attend. Here are the schedules for the “Illinois Junior Golf Association” and “Mid-American Junior Golf Tour”. The goal is to attend most, if not all of these tournaments.

The BirdieSisters Erica Jackson and Myah Jackson reached the 5th of seven levels, on their way to a second degree blackbelt in the martial art of Taekwondo. The BirdieSisters practice five days a week, for 50 minutes a class. It takes approximately eight weeks for them to move to the next level. They have been practicing for more than four years now.

Ten years ago, GOLF CHANNEL kicked-off its first junior golf initiative with the Drive, Chip & Putt program to help grow the game of golf. Our original mission to provide kids with a fun and free way to learn and play has proved successful, and we feel the program has accomplished its objective. Therefore, GOLF CHANNEL is suspending the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt program as we look for new ways to promote the game to juniors.
We would like to thank all of the participants and their families for making the program a success over the past 10 years. We hope to have announcements in the future regarding our junior golf initiatives.

IJGT TO ALLOW PUSH CARTS IN 2009
The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) will now allow non-motorized push carts in all age divisions beginning January 1, 2009. As you may know, the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) recently made the same type of policy change and will be allowing push carts next year. We believe it is in the best interest of our members to stay consistent with AJGA policy. The health and safety of our players is our first priority and this policy change to allow push carts will eliminate the potential health issues that may result by carrying heavy weighted golf bags.
