Medalist Performance By Myah Jackson

On July 18th and 19th BirdieSisters Erica and Myah Jackson played in the Midwest Golf Association’s 54th annual National Junior Championships at “Hawthorne Hills Golf Course” in Lima Ohio, 231 miles (4 hours 19 minutes) away from home. The weather was cool in the low 60s on Saturday and the low 70s on Sunday with clouds and a chance of rain both days.
First, let’s discuss BirdieSister Erica Jackson’s solid performance. On Saturday Erica had a great round on par golf. Even with a double boggy on the 4th hole, Erica had 3 birdies to bring her round to even par. On Sunday Erica’s driver had a mind of it’s owe, she aimed one way the ball went the other way. However, her short game came to the rescue and pulled her to a 3 over par finish. With a two-day total of 3 over par, Erica won the Pee-Wee Girls 10-11 division handley. Great Job Erica Jackson!
Next, let’s move on to BirdieSister Myah Jackson’s record-breaking performance. BirdieSister Myah Jackson had her first boggy free round of golf in her life. Myah choose a great time to add in a couple of birdies to finish 2 under par and set a record for the Pee-Wee Girls 8- 9 year-old division and the low 9-hole score of the tournament. On Sunday the big question was how would Myah handle her first boggy. We found out at the first hole when her tee shot went right and in the rough, forcing her to make a boggy 5. Myah got a boggy on 4 of the first 5 holes and then we saw her attitude change in the middle of the round. She birdied 2 of the last 4 holes, bringing Myah’s two-day total to an even par and making this one of Myah’s best tournaments this year.
