Well how time flies when you’re having fun. Today BirdieSister Erica Jackson played in her final Illinois Junior Golf Association event of the year, the “Geneva Invitational” located at the Geneva Golf Course in Geneva Illinois – 48 miles ( 1 hour 27 minutes) away. Under sunny skies and a temp of 77 degrees, Erica played her last 10-11 year old event in this league.
For everyone who has been following , yes this did complete an undefeated IJGA season. Erica has worked hard this year and the roller coaster ride was great to watch. Erica is going to take a week off and get right back to work. She fully understands the level of play she is going to face next season and looks forward to seeing her old friends that left her last year.
Both Erica and Myah would like to thanks the staff and interns at the Illinios Junior Golf Assocaition for a wonderful season and good lessons learned.

Today BirdieSister Erica Jackson played in her last regular season event for the Illinois Junior Golf Association. The event was held at Craig Woods Golf Course in Woodstock Illinois, 62 miles ( 1 hour 26 minutes) from home. The weather was in the low 70s at Erica’s 10:12 tee time. IJGA holds its final YDP 10-12 year-old tournament as an invitational. Erica hopes to receive an invitation to the Geneva Golf Club invitational later in August.
Although Erica didn’t play her best game today, she managed to remain undefeated. Good job Erica! Our goal was to play well, get better and hopefully get some wins along the way. For more info and stats see: http://ijga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ijga/event/ijga68/contest/7/leaderboard.htm

The Illinois Junior Golf Association held a tournament today at Winnetka Golf Club in Winnetka, Illinois — 26 miles (40 minutes) from home. The weather was great, temps in the mid 70′s with some clouds.
Myah Jackson broke her streak of sub-par golf today. However, she managed to keep a positive attitude about the situation. For example, after ending her round with a birdie on the last hole, Myah displayed a big smile and asked if I wanted to hear the good news or the bad news. Myah then stated, ”the good news is I made two birdies and the bad news is I did not have a sub-par round.” This statement demonstrates that Myah’s expectations of herself have risen to a new level. In fact, she now knows the type of numbers she should put up tournament after tournament. For stats and photo see: http://ijga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ijga9/event/ijga974/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

“The U.S. Kids Golf Foundation is pleased to announce that Erica Jackson is the 2009 recipient of the Peggy Kirk Bell Award. This year we received over 40 applications with wonderful stories of how young golfers are impacting their communities and we were most impressed. . . .”
The Peggy Kirk Bell Award is given each year by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation at the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship. The award is given to recognize a young golfer who is making a difference in his/her community — not just on the fairways. The award is named for and inspired by the lifelong efforts of Peggy Kirk Bell. Peggy Kirk Bell is a charter member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and a member of the LPGA Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Birdiesister Erica Jackson on this accomplishment!

Today BirdieSister Erica Jackson played at “Sportsman’s Country Club” in Northbrook Illinois, 33 miles (56 minutes) from home. The weather was great with temps in the mid 70s and clear skies.
With the season waining down, BirdieSister Erica Jackson needed to win one out of the last two remaining US Kids tournament to clinch player of the year. The girls both started out well, putting each other’s will to win to the test. However, by the end of hole number seven Erica had a four shot lead and cruised home. Illinois Junior Golf Association held its seventh event today at “Arlington Lakes Golf Course” in Arlington Heights Illinois, 40 miles (53 minutes) from home. Due to an 11:00 a.m. tee time, we had to leave the house at 8:00 to fight Chicago’s rush hour traffic. The weather was a perfect 80 degrees with bright sunshine.
BirdieSister Erica Jackson played well but not as well as yesterday. Spectators were allowed at this tournament so I saw the whole thing. From hole one I noticed that Erica’s approach shot was falling short, therefore adding a whole new element to her round that she did not have yesterday – the chip shot. Driving and putting were adequate. During the ride home I asked Erica what she thought the difference was between the two rounds yesterday and today. She said “I only had one good chip shot today and I just couldn’t get my chipping game going like yesterday.” However, I pointed out that she only had one chip all day yesterday. Her approach shots put her within 12 feet of the pin the entire round.
The BirdieSisters learned a lot of valuable lessons this week so the heavy week of tournament play paid off. Erica played in four consecutive tournaments and managed to continue her winning streak.
