Today BirdieSister Erica Jackson played in her last regular season event for the Illinois Junior Golf Association. The event was held at Craig Woods Golf Course in Woodstock Illinois, 62 miles ( 1 hour 26 minutes) from home. The weather was in the low 70s at Erica’s 10:12 tee time. IJGA holds its final YDP 10-12 year-old tournament as an invitational. Erica hopes to receive an invitation to the Geneva Golf Club invitational later in August.
Although Erica didn’t play her best game today, she managed to remain undefeated. Good job Erica! Our goal was to play well, get better and hopefully get some wins along the way. For more info and stats see: http://ijga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ijga/event/ijga68/contest/7/leaderboard.htm

The Illinois Junior Golf Association held a tournament today at Winnetka Golf Club in Winnetka, Illinois — 26 miles (40 minutes) from home. The weather was great, temps in the mid 70′s with some clouds.
Myah Jackson broke her streak of sub-par golf today. However, she managed to keep a positive attitude about the situation. For example, after ending her round with a birdie on the last hole, Myah displayed a big smile and asked if I wanted to hear the good news or the bad news. Myah then stated, ”the good news is I made two birdies and the bad news is I did not have a sub-par round.” This statement demonstrates that Myah’s expectations of herself have risen to a new level. In fact, she now knows the type of numbers she should put up tournament after tournament. For stats and photo see: http://ijga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ijga9/event/ijga974/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

Today BirdieSister Erica Jackson played in the Illinois Junior Golf Association YDP event at Glenview National 9 Golf Course in Glenview, IL. 38 miles (45 minutes) from home. With an 8:56 tee time we had to leave the house at 7:00 a.m. due to the heavy volume of traffic. The temps were in the low 60′s with light rain.

BirdieSister Erica Jackson played in the Illinois Junior Golf Association’s event number 7, “Cog Hill Sizzler,” at Cog Hill Country Club in Lemont Illinois (located 29 miles from home/1hr.). The Weather was a very cool 59 degrees with clouds and the chance of rain all day.
After a double boggy at the first hole in the last 3 tournaments, Erica Jackson came out with a new attitude and started her round with a par. In fact, Erica did not make a double boggy all day. Her driver has found a glitch, which inhibits control and distance. So, we know her short game was on the mark. Erica has 2 lessons with her coach Alexis this week and she hopes to work out her driver issues while continuing to improve her short game. Illinois Junior Golf Association”s second tournament at “Stoney Creek Golf Club” in Oak Lawn Illinois. The tournament’s location was only 18 miles away with a tee time of 8:24 a.m. for Erica and 9:20 a.m. for Myah. We departed the house at 6:00 a.m. and arrived at the course at 7:10 a.m. The weather today is outstanding 77 degrees and very little clouds.
Myah Jackson did not have any female competitors today, so she set her sites on competing with the boys. Myah carried her fire from the last tournament right into this one. She started strong and finish with a score of 40 which was better than the boys by 9 shots. Way to go Myah.
Erica Jackson was mentally drained from her dance recital last night, but manage to stay a couple of paces in front of her competition. She shoot a 83 to win her age group. Sometimes you have to learn how to servile on the course. Good job Erica.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association started its season for the 10-11 year old girls and boys on Friday, June 12th. The first tournament was held at “Flagg Creek Golf Course” in Countryside, Illinois — approximately 20.5 miles from home (approx. 40 minutes). Erica’s tee time was 8:46 a.m. Taking the morning rush hour traffic into consideration, we departed home at 6:30 am. When we left the house it was 51 degrees with light rain. By the start of the tournament it was in the mid-60s, and by the 9th hole turn it was 77 degrees without a cloud in the sky.
BirdieSister Erica Jackson is trying to focus more on her start, but today was not the turning point. The greens changed speeds two or three times during the round, making putting even more difficult. She started slow again but managed to overcome some formidable competition.
